Todaya

Todaya is a substantial 160-room ryokan on Toba Bay, designed to offer variety rather than seclusion. Japanese rooms look across the water, and the property’s scale supports numerous public spaces and a broad range of bathing choices. The bath circuit is the headline: open-air and communal baths, private baths, foot baths, sauna, and rock bathing spread the experience across the grounds. An alkaline simple spring supplies the circuit, and the number of settings matters more here than mineral rarity.

Dining ranges from a live-kitchen buffet with fish preparation and griddle cooking to selected room-meal plans featuring Ise lobster and abalone. That flexibility serves different travelers, but the buffet format does not offer the narrative pace of a focused kaiseki meal.
