Kakeyu Onsen Saihokuso

Saihokuso is a ten-room inn in Kakeyu Onsen, with nine tatami rooms and one Western room. Futons are prepared before arrival, leaving the evening undisturbed and keeping the service informal.

The natural hot-spring bath stays available around the clock. It is a simple indoor communal bath rather than an elaborate circuit, fitting the small lodging and the old therapeutic-bath atmosphere of Kakeyu.

Meals are served in the room and deliberately take the form of country home cooking rather than kaiseki. Around thirty ingredients may appear, including vegetables from the inn’s garden and seasonal matsutake from nearby hills. A children’s space and baby equipment make Saihokuso welcoming to families who value local food, privacy at dinner and an easygoing stay.
