Hakone Rokkasou

Hakone Rokkasou welcomes only three groups each night in a quiet Sengokuhara villa district. Tatami rooms and shared wash facilities are simple, but the very small scale allows guests to settle into the inn without the movement of a larger property.

Two indoor and two outdoor rock baths use Owakudani water and can be taken privately through an on-site tag system. The baths bring forest air and volcanic water together without a formal reservation timetable.

Dinner is cooked around an irori hearth, with wild boar, river fish, mountain vegetables and hotpot reflecting the highland setting. Rokkasou suits travellers who accept modest facilities in exchange for privacy, old-fashioned hearth cooking and an unusually quiet Hakone night.
