Oyado Hiranoya

Oyado Hiranoya faces Kusatsu’s Yubatake, placing the steaming centre of town directly outside the door. Inside, the bath receives the rare Shirahata source through its own pipe. The acidic sulfur water arrives milky with mineral flakes and flows continuously, giving a small indoor bath more distinction than its size suggests.

The inn describes itself as free-style rather than formal. Breakfast brings Gunma to the table through Joshu-flour suiton dumplings, onsen egg and small steamed rice parcels; dinner plans may feature Akagi pork shabu-shabu.

Hiranoya suits travellers who want to move easily between Kusatsu’s streets and a source-specific private soak. The rooms and service are straightforward, but the combination of Yubatake location, rare water and relaxed meal format makes this a particularly focused way to experience the town.
