Shiokaze Kaoru Yado Miharashi

Shiokaze Kaoru Yado Miharashi stands about a minute from Unohama Beach, with sea-facing tatami rooms and the horizon close throughout the stay. Its three-storey scale remains intimate enough for the coastal setting to dominate.

The sodium chloride spring is weakly alkaline, clear and distinctly salty. It fills the large communal bath, which stays open around the clock so guests can bathe after sunset or before an early walk on the beach.

Dinner uses fish landed in the waters directly ahead, with sea bream, flounder, horse mackerel, shrimp and abalone appearing according to season and plan. Miharashi is a focused coastal ryokan: fresh seafood, a simple Japanese room and mineral water available whenever the sea suggests another soak.
