Onyado Shinshima

Onyado Shinshima is a Japanese-style hot-spring inn facing a riverside promenade in a town known for its namako-kabe, the distinctive white-lattice plaster walls of Matsuzaki. The townscape gives the approach a recognisable historic texture.

The bathing is generous for the setting: free-flowing water, communal and open-air baths, and a private bath. Guests can alternate a walk through town with an uncomplicated soak, keeping the day close to the river and the old streets.
