The onsen is the centrepiece — pH 9.2 alkaline water across five facilities all running direct from source, with four private kashikiri baths available by reservation — and the Ikyu onsen score of 5.00, held across a substantial review base, is among the more honest ratings this guide has encountered.

The table is irori hearth cooking and rural Kumamoto farmhouse fare, not kaiseki; it is seasonal, regional, and better than its informality suggests, but it asks the guest to abandon the kaiseki framework entirely before they can appreciate it on its own terms.
