Unoshima Villa

Unoshima Villa stands above the sea-eroded shoreline at Otajiri Beach, with the Pacific spreading out like a private cove below the windows. Rebuilt after the 2011 disaster, it moved from the identity of an old onsen ryokan toward a small, informal seaside villa with café-like public spaces.

The communal bath and family bath use heated groundwater with magnesium and calcium. The water flows through without chlorination, providing a quiet bathing experience even though it is not classified as an onsen.

Dinner turns to the surrounding coast and fields, pairing local fish with Hitachi vegetables; stone-grilled seafood may appear according to the plan. Unoshima works for travellers seeking ocean light, an easygoing welcome and a small-scale coastal meal rather than formal ryokan ritual.
