Founded in 1937 by Hamada Takejiro, a chef drawn to Kurobe Gorge by its abundant springs and theatrical landscape, Enraku has accumulated nearly nine decades of literary and artistic patronage — gifts from writers and painters line its corridors, making the inn itself a quiet archive. The Unazuki source delivers kakenagashi water of straightforward alkaline character into a setting that does the heavy work: rotenburo face the Kurobe River at close range, and the gorge changes register entirely across the seasons, from snowmelt to maple. The kitchen is rooted firmly in Toyama Bay terroir — white shrimp found almost nowhere else, firefly squid in spring, winter yellowtail from Himi, crab in autumn — and executes the kaiseki sequence with technical confidence, if not yet the philosophical depth of the highest tier. At 40 rooms, the inn sits at the edge of the scale where ichigo ichie begins to thin, and the facility scores on booking platforms suggest the physical plant may be carrying its years with uneven grace.

Unazuki Onsen Enraku was established in 1937 and operates as a fully orthodox 温泉旅館: tatami rooms with futon, nakai attendants who serve kaiseki in-room, and authenticated kakenagashi onsen water drawn from the Unazuki source.
