Uchihara Kosen Yusenso

Uchihara Kosen Yusenso is a 12-room country inn built around an old-fashioned mineral-bath tradition. Its spring is a cold kosen rather than a naturally hot onsen, so the water is heated before entering the communal bath. Dragon-pattern stone and ultrasonic jets give the bath an unmistakably local, practical character, and guests can use it through the night outside cleaning hours.

Tatami rooms and meals served either in-room or in a private dining space preserve the feel of a small regional ryokan. Dinner is home-style Japanese cooking rather than formal kaiseki, with Mito natto among the local touches and simple refills of rice and miso soup.
