Seikyo no Yado Sansui

Sansui is a nine-room inn at Shimoyu in Totsukawa, set where mountain slopes meet the river. The small building was renewed in 2012, but the surrounding landscape remains the dominant presence and gives the stay a feeling of deep rural distance.

The inn sits only a short distance from the spring source. Free-flowing water supplies communal, open-air, and private baths, with the river and mountains visible from the outdoor setting. Bathing is the property’s clearest and most convincing strength.

Local dishes introduce Totsukawa ingredients and countryside flavors without turning dinner into a luxury performance. Sansui suits travelers who value source-near water, natural quiet, and a small-house rhythm. Rooms and furnishings are modest, but the onsen and location give the inn a character that cannot be reproduced in a city hotel.
