Ryokan Seseragi-so

Seseragiso brings the Arakawa unusually close to the stay. River-facing rooms look across the water toward the hills of Chichibu, and the sound of the current gives the inn an atmosphere that its name, recalling a murmuring stream, neatly captures.

The Kawara no Yu bath uses water from the Dairyuji source. Large windows can be opened to give the indoor bathing space an almost open-air feeling, with the river immediately beyond. The setting matters as much as the tub itself.
