Tatami Suite

Nazuna Obi occupies a samurai residence of 140-year vintage in the castle town of Obi — the first district in Kyushu designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings — and brings five guest rooms to a space that breathes genuine antiquity rather than performing it. The Kitago Onsen water, a sodium-chloride bicarbonate spring delivered source-to-room by kakenagashi, fills each private rotenburo with the mineral warmth of southern Miyazaki earth.

Dining operates across two dedicated spaces: ICHINO, where a chef with Kyoto kaiseki lineage delivers a nine-course seasonal sequence inside a century-old converted residence, and Irodori, where the Jitokko chicken of southern Miyazaki arrives grilled over binchotan and — rarer still — as sashimi, rooting the meal firmly in local rather than classical authority. The moss aquarium anchoring one of the five rooms is the detail a guest carries home: not a decorative gesture but an object of genuine wabi-sabi intention placed in deliberate dialogue with the aged timber surrounding it.
