Onsen Ryokan Mitake

Mitake is a two-storey wooden inn in Sengokuhara, surrounded by the highland’s pampas grass and mountain air. Its milky sulfur-chloride water comes from Owakudani and flows freely through communal, open-air and two private baths, available around the clock.

Seasonal mountain vegetables and Sagami Bay seafood shape the Japanese dinner, served in the guest room. Afterward, a large board-game collection and the inn’s resident cat replace the usual hotel entertainment with something informal and sociable.
